The "Local Initiative for Sustainable Development - Sustainability Strategy", promoted several GPP strategies in the period 2008-2011, including the use of life-cycle analysis in municipal purchasing, and the requirement to update environmental requirements at least every other year to reflect technological development. The Environment and Procurement Offices cooperate to define technical specifications in tenders and bids are awarded eco-points which are built into the overall score of the offer.
Energy consumption demands and life-cycle economy on energy has been integrated in the procurement procedures since 2012. When procuring energy consuming goods and services demands on energy efficiency will be rated based on life cycle consumption prices.
When purchasing municipal vehicles, the energy consumption of the vehicles and the use of alternative fuels must be promoted.
